Long-Cuff & Forearm Mitts

Ask anyone with an oven scar where it is. Almost nobody says the palm — the palm had the mitt. The scar is a neat line on the forearm where skin met the top rack’s edge on the way in or out. The mitt was working; it was just short.

So cuff length is a genuine specification and we state it in inches on the quote. Our long-cuff mitts run well past the wrist, putting quilting or silicone between the rack edge and the arm for the whole reach.

The extra length changes nothing about speed: the cuff stays wide enough to shake on and off in a second, because a protective mitt that is annoying to wear becomes a counter ornament within a week.

How long should an oven mitt actually be?

Long enough that the reach into your deepest oven never puts bare skin above a rack edge. We quote length in inches rather than in words like “extended”, and we will recommend one from how your ovens are actually arranged.

Do long cuffs get in the way?
